About Amanda

Amanda has been taking photographs for 33 years. She started
when her Grandmother gave her an old 110mm cartridge film camera for her seventeenth birthday. She
started working as a photographer when she was invited to a wedding and was
informed she was taking the pictures. She has been working as a professional photographer
in Kilkenny and Carlow for 12 years and has been doing wedding photography, portrait
photography, profile pictures, website photography and was awarded a
distinction with the Irish Photography Federation in 2009.

In 2007 she saw an article in the local paper asking for
people to teach photography classes in a Carlow based IT resource centre. After
working for them for over a year she launched her first independent class in
May 2009. She has taught these classes in St. Patrick’s Parish centre ever
since.

Since then over 300 students have enrolled for both the ‘Beginners
in Digital Photography
’ classes and the follow on ‘The Improvers Photography
course
’. Besides that Amanda runs all day workshops for Beginners in Portrait

Lighting. The future looks good for the Beginners in Digital Photography
courses as there is a growing waiting list for the launch of the new Beginners in
Photoshop course.
